Fiber mapping project is underway with an expected completion date of Dec 2023. This engagement will produce a comprehensive mapping of all fiber paths and connection points for the entire City of Savannah fiber infrastructure. This project will provide a documented infrastructure with the critical data needed for better planning of future utilization as well as accurate data for support and response

We are currently working with all of the Chatham County municipalities and schools on the feasibility of a proposed scenario of a joint partnership with other municipalities and a private ISP to share costs and risk for extending a fiber network throughout the community.

Movement on this project has temporarily slowed to focus on or successful completion of Police demerger activities. Once the demerger has completed, work will resume wtih peers from Chatham County and other municipalities to develop a Request for Information (RFI). This RFI will be to assess vendor interest in partnering to extend a fiber network in the community.
