Site work began immediately with clearing, grading, and prep for the first floor building pad. Piers went into the ground late July and concrete foundations followed. Vertical stairwell and elevator shafts were constructed in August, and the first floor building slab was poured on Sept. 12. The steel structure was started immediately after the concrete pour and continues. During this quarter the underground utility work was also completed. The project remains on schedule. During the second quarter of 2018 Hussey Gay Bell completed the construction drawings for JE Dunn to establish cost of construction. On May 24th City Council approved the GMP (guaranteed maximum price for construction) and the Phase II contract agreement with JE Dunn. Plans were submitted to Development Services for Permitting review and approval. Construction is scheduled to begin early July 2018 with a Groundbreaking Ceremony planned for July 17. Completion of the project is estimated for April of 2019.

In February 2018, Hussey Gay Bell completed the "design development" stage of design representing 60% completion and continued into the 90% "pre-final" stage of design. Staff has continued to work with Hussey Gay Bell and JE Dunn to ensure the project continues to stay within the established budget and overall project schedule. The GMP (guaranteed maximum price for construction) is scheduled to be provided by JE Dunn in May. Staff will seek City Council approval of the construction contract with JE Dunn in the 2nd quarter of 2018. Completion of the project is estimated for April of 2019.

12/28/2017 9:59:13 AM:
Within the 4th quarter of 2017 the schematic design submittal was received from Hussey Gay Bell. Several design meetings were held including a meeting with the kitchen consultant to determine the extent of equipment needed for intended culinary programming. Staff has been working with Hussey Gay Bell and JE Dunn to determine various cost savings opportunities for the project to ensure the project continues to stay within the established budget. This is a vital step at this point in the project which needs resolution prior to moving forward. It is planned that in January of 2018 all budget issues will be resolved and that the project will move into the "design development" stage of design with construction documents completed to a 60% level by the mid February 2018. Completion of the project is estimated for February/March of 2019.

11/3/2017 5:30:18 PM:
Staff presented the conceptual building plans and exterior elevations to Alderman Hall on September 26, 2017. On October 6, the project team reconvened and approval was given to JE Dunn/Hussey Gay Bell to proceed with contract documents, starting with schematic design. The project team met with consultants on October 25 and 26, 2017 regarding the plans for IT/AV and security needs and kitchen design. The schematic design submittal from Hussey Gay Bell is expected to be submitted in November, 2017.
