The name "Harmon Creek Park" was officially adopted by City Council for the new park's name. A sign for the park is in production and will be installed when complete.

The park is open and operational. Official naming of the park is in process.

The project of a new community park including a basketball court, playground, and new landscaping was completed in the 4th quarter of 2019. Approval for naming the park is in process. Once the name is official there will be a park sign made and a dedication ceremony held.

9/30/2019 3:50:51 PM:
During the third quarter of 2019 construction of the new park was started. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on August 23rd attended by local residents, City staff, and members of City Council. The basketball court and sidewalks are nearing completion. The playground equipment and landscaping will be installed within the first several weeks of October. It is anticipated that the park project will be complete and ready for use by the end of October 2019.

Design and permitting of the project was successfully completed. On July 2nd City Council approved a contract with Johnson-Laux Construction for construction of a new pervious basketball court, pervious walkways, ADA parking and landscaping.

FEMA approved the request to implement a basketball court, walkways, playground and landscaping on FEMA deed restricted properties. The design and permitting will be completed in the 2nd quarter.

Staff continues to communicate and work with GEMA/FEMA to acquire necessary approvals for park development. FEMA approvals for open space requests can take 6-9 months. Design is underway and estimated to be completed in the 1st quarter.
